Katherine Lane: Good day, Michael!. Thank you for taking the time to join us for this interview to discuss the ongoing war in Ukraine and its impact on the region. As we know you was born in Ukrain in Odessa and this issue especially painful for you.
Michael Shvartsman: Thank you for having me. I appreciate the opportunity to raise this tremendously important issue again. Yes, You are right. I can’t think without pain about this situation.
Katherine Lane: How do you perceive the current state of affairs in the region and the humanitarian crisis that has unfolded?
Michael Shvartsman: The situation in Ukraine is deeply anxiety, with the conflict resulting in immense human suffering and displacement. The humanitarian crisis demands urgent attention and collective efforts to provide aid, support, and relief to those affected by the war.
Katherine Lane: As a philanthropist and advocate for social justice, what initiatives or actions have you taken to support the people impacted by the war in Ukraine?
Michael Shvartsman: My team and I are actively involved in providing humanitarian assistance, supporting refugees, organizing jobs for refugees and their families, fully supporting the job search cycle in new countries, and partnering with organizations on the ground to solve problems for those affected by conflict . We understand the urgency of the situation and are ready to offer assistance and solidarity to the Ukrainian people at this difficult time.
Katherine Lane: In your view, what role can the international community play in in supporting peace initiatives, stability, and supporting people in Ukraine?
Michael Shvartsman: The international community must unite in condemning violence, advocating for diplomatic solutions, and supporting humanitarian efforts to alleviate the suffering of civilians. Сooperation, and a commitment to upholding human rights and international law are essential in fostering peace and rebuilding trust in the region.
Katherine Lane: Looking ahead, how do you envision the path towards peace and resolution in Ukraine, and what steps can individuals and organizations take to contribute to these efforts?
Michael Shvartsman: Achieving lasting peace in Ukraine will require a multifaceted approach that centers on dialogue, reconciliation, and the protection of human rights. Individuals, organizations, and governments can play a crucial role in advocating for peace, supporting humanitarian initiatives, and promoting unity, understanding, and respect among diverse communities in Ukraine.
